Hi,

The portable installation failed on my computer.

I move all files to a shared folder and I added the config.gsc2 file. How can I force Grindstone to run in the portable mode so that it uses the config.gsc2 located in the program folder instead of the Windows users folder?

Grindstone determines whether to run in Travel Mode by examining the type of drive from which it's being executed. Currently, this means Grindstone will only enter Travel Mode if the drive type is "removable" according to Windows (like a USB flash drive). We're going to expand this to include optical drives (CD/DVD) because U3 and PortableApps sticks trick Windows into thinking they're optical drives for somewhat nefarious purposes, and we want to support running Grindstone in Travel Mode on those devices. That being said, apart from moving Grindstone's installation files to the appropriate type of drive, the user cannot "force" Grindstone to enter Travel Mode.

Thanks for your reply.

I understand now.

Actually, I use Grindstone via Dropbox. But to keep it synchronized between my computers, I need to have a junction point to the Grindstone User data folder.

It would have been nice to be able to force Grindstone to work in a portable mode (with a command line switch "/p" for instance) as USB devices are not the only way to use portable applications.
